FishCast
Tide, wind, pressure and light, combined into whether the fish will actually be biting.
The question
Fishing conditions are a genuine multi-variable problem that anglers solve by folklore — barometric pressure, tide phase, wind direction and light level all matter and interact. The same composite-scoring question as Ridgeline, on a domain where the received wisdom is much stronger and much less tested.
What I built
A single self-contained page combining marine and atmospheric conditions into a readable bite forecast, with the contributing factors shown rather than hidden behind a verdict.
The hard part — Scoring folklore honestly
Much of what anglers believe about pressure and bite behaviour is anecdote of varying quality. The tool presents the underlying conditions plainly and is explicit that the composite is a heuristic, not a validated model — the opposite of the confident black-box number that most fishing apps sell.
What this does not tell you
- The bite score is heuristic and unvalidated against catch data.
